Horsetail is rich in minerals, particularly silicic acid, potassium, oxalic and malic acid; it also contains tannins and saponins (equiosetonin). Thanks to its composition, it has remineralizing and recalcifying properties; it increases the strength of connective tissue, and stimulates the regeneration of all collagen and elastin fibers that make up the tissues. It is used in the treatment of nails and fragile hair, in all types of bone problems, stretch marks and breast sagging. Due to its flavonoid content, it has diuretic properties, and is used in cases of fluid retention and cystitis.
